In some German public health institutes, LGBT people are required to present a “sisterhood certificate” and are denied entry.
The state also bars the LGBT community from participating in academic events.
The Institute for National and Community Health (INCH) has said that “there are currently no specific conditions for admission to the institute.”
The institute also forbids students from “sexual activities that are not in accordance with the official social values.”
The Institute of Medical Research (INM) also requires “the presence of a social conscience” in order to receive a “certificate of competence.”
The federal government recently approved legislation that would make same-sex marriage legal in Germany.
The German government has also established the German Lesbian and Gay Association (GLAS), which aims to “defend the rights and freedoms of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer people” and to “strengthen their equality.”
The GLAS is the only gay organization in Germany, but it has been barred from holding its annual conference, which is held in the country.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government has been under fire in recent years for its handling of a string of sexual assaults in the capital, Cologne, and elsewhere.
The attacks have been condemned by both the German public and the LGBT communities.
The number of reported cases of violence against LGBT people has more than doubled over the past five years, according to the German police.
In response to the Cologne attacks, the German parliament passed the first anti-discrimination law in Europe, which would outlaw discrimination against LGBT citizens.
The law also makes it a crime to spread rumors about the sexual orientation of a person.
But the German LGBT community is concerned about the bill’s impact.
“We have already received several letters from gay people who say they have lost their jobs due to this law,” German LGBT activist and author Jan-Oliver Dürr told ABC News.
“I feel this law has not been adopted in a proper way and that people will be able to discriminate against us.
This law is a mistake.”
