Oklahomans who have undergone eye surgery for the past six months are getting a new, much-needed tool.
The Oklahoma Heart Institute and the Alabama Technical Institute have launched a new app called “Oklahoma Eye Surgery” that lets users “see” and “share” their images and video footage.
The app is available for iPhone and Android.
“This is an exciting time for all Oklahoman’s,” the company said.
“Now, they can connect and share their experiences with other Oklahoms, like the people who are the ones who can really benefit from the research.”
Oklahoma Heart Institute co-founder and CEO Paul Aker told the Oklahoma Times that the new app allows the state’s nearly 8,000 doctors to share their research and expertise with the public, and allows patients to share photos, videos and even videos.
The company said the app allows doctors to see their images, videos, and video content in real time, which makes it easy to share.
Aker told KFOR-TV that the app has been downloaded more than 3 million times in the last two weeks.
“We think it’s going to be a real benefit for patients,” he said.
The new app is not the only eye surgery app that has popped up.
There is a website called “Ophthalmic Surgeons of the United States,” which provides a virtual reality version of an operating room.
The online service, called “EyeSurgeons,” offers 360-degree video, audio and even 360-viewing capabilities for patients who are undergoing a total or partial procedure, according to its website.
The service has a “buy now” option, but that option does not include the VR experience.
Mary Fallin has said the new software will be an important tool for the state, especially for patients whose vision has been compromised.
“I think the new technology and technology like it will be a tremendous boost for Oklahomaans,” she said in February.
“They can see the images and videos, but we can also use the VR to help patients better understand their care.”
Oklahomians can also download the EyeSurgeons app to access video and video-chatting capabilities for doctors, nurses, surgeons and even those who have just undergone surgery, according the website.
Ameriweather’s Eye Surgeons is another new app that allows people to view their own and others’ photos, but the app was designed to be more accessible to those who do not have the same expertise.
“The idea behind the app is to allow those who want to have a conversation to have it,” Ameriweather CEO and co-CEO Jeff Ameriroad said in a statement.
“Our goal is to make eye surgery accessible for people with limited vision.”
